Hello! My name is Claire and I come from the lovely town of Denver, Colorado. However here are some other places I've called home in the past couple of years: Wisconsin for college (go Badgers and cheese curds), Washington DC, a tent for five weeks on the 485-mile Colorado trail, and most recently New Zealand and SE Asia. My degree in conservation biology and summers spent attending (and then working) at camps have lead me to happily pursue a career in outdoor education and leadership. When I am not in the mountains you can usually find me cooking, dancing, eating, laughing, and/or any combination of the above. I can't wait to spend the fall at High Trails!

Howdy Y’all! My name is Anne, and I am STOKED for my first season at High Trails. I originally hail from Atlanta, GA but have called the mountains home for the past five years. I just finished my second summer at Sanborn and am excited to begin this next journey on year round staff. I love playing my guitar, chilling with my dog, and walking up mountains as much as possible. I am passionate about the out of doors and cannot wait to ignite that passions in the kids at High Trails this fall

Hi friends! My name is Val and just recently moved from Kansas to Colorado. Although I'm sad to leave The Plains behind, I am beyond stoked to be working outdoor education at High Trails. I've been lucky enough to spend the past five summers at Sanborn, and I can't wait to spend the fall here as well. I've spent the past two years working in special education and I'm excited to gain more experience in different areas of education and teaching. I'm a big fan of sandals (#RUTO aka rolled-up, toes-out), unnecessary hashtagging, and karaoke whenever appropriate (#always).

Hello! My name is Gretchen and I am a graduate from the University of Minnesota with a degree in landscape architecture & architecture. I recently moved to Colorado to play in the mountains! My favorite pastime is rock climbing and playing my violin. My life goal is to become a teacher and to be outside as much as I can.

Growing up in a military family, Jalen has called many parts of our country home. He has excitedly called Colorado his place of residence since 2015; the longest time he has lived in one place. Due to his intimate yet bubbly personality, Jalen has developed a love for interpersonal relationships. You could say he is a vibrant people person. Along with his love for all kinds of people, Jalen also has a passion for the outdoors. As a selected Team Leader for the organization Outdoor Afro, he is often out connecting people of color to the great outdoors. His background in Philosophy is often felt through his thoughtful questions while instructing students on the trail. For the past two years, Jalen has worked with High Trails and has lived his life in line with its mission: To live together in the outdoors growing a sense of Self, Community, Earth and Wonder.

Hey there. My name is Mark and I grew up thirty minutes outside of New York City. I graduated a while back from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Education and a few years later received a Masters in Health Education. I love adventure, learning and the outdoors. My sense of wonder took me oversees to Europe, where I taught for 4 years at an American international school before arriving here in Colorado. There is no place I feel more alive than in nature and I love opportunities to connect learning/education with my greatest passions in life. I’m just coming off a summer with Sanborn leading climbing and backpacking trips and can’t wait for another season surrounded by similar minded people.

Howdy!  My name is Trevor, and I’m an explorer from the Missouri Ozarks.  Currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Biology, I’ve traveled across the country working seasonal jobs as an outdoor educator.  I have also spent nearly ten years volunteering at zoos and wildlife sanctuaries. I’ve worked with a wide variety of wildlife, whether it’s feeding bears at a sanctuary, observing elephants in Africa, swimming with whale sharks, or feeding gators at a zoo.  I’m also a photographer, filmmaker, and adventurer who loves participating in a variety of outdoor activities, especially backpacking.

Hi everyone!  My name is Nell, and I am looking forward to being at High Trails this spring after having a great time as a counselor at Sanborn last summer!  I grew up in Vermont, but I have lived in Idaho for the past year and a half while earning a Masters in Natural Resources and a certificate in Environmental Education.  I love being outdoors, especially when I am hiking, biking, sailing, looking at rocks (I was a double major in Geology and Art History), or cross country skiing.  I can't wait to meet all of the High Trails students and have a chance to explore the outdoors and learn with them!

Hey there! My name is Megan and my excitement to work at High Trails this season is through the roof! I am originally from Boise, Idaho – though, I also share my heart with Oregon and Colorado. In May 2016 I graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. After graduation, I came to Sanborn to enjoy my third summer and have been working here year-round ever since. My hobbies include eating ice cream, non-choreographed dance moves, playing Settlers of Catan, and being on a mountain (either on skis or on foot). I am passionate about children, education, and adventure and I look forward to fusing all of those together at High Trails.
