Our Fall Field Instructors!

I'm Logan, and I grew up in Valley Center, KS, a small town just north of Wichita. I graduated from Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS, where I studied communication with a theatre emphasis. For fun I like to read, play games, sing, play tennis or frisbee golf, go bike riding, or just hang out and listen to music. This will be my second season as a field instructor, and I’m excited for new challenges and new adventures.

Hello world! I’m Maria! I first came to High Trails as a sixth grader 18 years ago. They can’t seem to shake me and I keep pleading to come back. I’m a native Coloradan and CSU grad (Go Rams!), equipped with a BS in Forestry and a BS in Natural Resource Management. I’ve spent my professional life measuring, studying, and interpreting the natural world for organizations ranging from the National Park Service to the Cascades Carnivore Project. I love to be outside, but must admit I suffer from couch potato/X-Files binge watching syndrome. Luckily, the hubby and the lab keep me off the marshmallow comforts of my IKEA KIVIK and out enjoying that good ol’ Colorado fresh air. I make a s’mean s’more and highly encourage you track me down to concoct one specially tailored to meet your comfort food needs.

Hi everyone! My name is Rob and I'm excited to return to High Trails this fall! I am a life-long traveller with a passion for the outdoors and discovering new things. I am graduate of Elon University with a degree in International Studies and Political science, and recently moved back to the U.S. after teaching at a school in the Czech Republic for two years. I love playing in the mountains and learning about Western history, and I can't wait to share tons of good times with students this fall. See you on the trail!

Hi there! My name is Caroline, and I am from San Diego, California. I recently graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Animal Science. I love working with kids and sharing my love for science and the outdoors. I’m excited to help make learning fun at camp this season.

Hi! My name is Forest and I was born and raised in Salinas, CA. After earning my degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UC Santa Cruz, I took a gap year to serve with AmeriCorps NCCC in the Southern US. My current hobbies include bouldering, traveling, and napping in my hammock. I am passionate about being outdoors and working with youth, so I'm excited to spend this season teaching at High Trails!

Hello! My name is Tara and I’m excited to begin my first season here at High Trails! I’m a native Texan and recently graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler. I’ve had a passion for Outdoor Education since attending an Outdoor School in 5-th grade, and I can’t wait to share that love with my students this fall! In my free time, you might find me at the dog park with my German Shepherd named “Hatchet,” re-watching “The Office” for the thousandth time, or trying to create the perfect bowl of homemade ramen. I can’t to escape this Texas heat and hang out with you all in the mountains. See you soon!

Hi! My name is Anna and I grew up in Big Sky, Montana. I attended Whitman College in Walla Walla Washington and graduated with a degree in Rhetoric Studies. I love to ski, hike and raft. I've spent the last two summers working here at High Trails for our summer camp, and I am so excited to stay this fall and continue to share my love for the outdoors and this place with kids.

Hi! My name is Rachel. I’m coming from Los Angeles, California, though I’m sort of from all over. I graduated from San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in New Genres and love finding ways to incorporate science and nature into my art practice. On any given day you can find me drawing, climbing trees, or singing weird songs to myself. I love camping and backpacking—last year I hiked into the eastern Oregon backcountry to see the total solar eclipse. It was incredible! I feel very passionate about outdoor education and I’m very excited to spend my first season at High Trails this fall. See you out there!
