Our Spring Field Instructors!
Howdy Friends! My Name is Noah and I hail from Ann Arbor, MI. I am extremely jazzed to be heading into my second season working with High Trails! I graduated from the College of Wooster with a BA in Anthropology and feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to 10 different countries on 4 continents. I have a passion for landscape photography and in my free time I love to pair that with hiking, trail running, and skiing. This will be my first spring in Colorado and I am so excited to be spending it at High Trails!
Hi, my name’s Logan. I’ve been spending the winter in Kansas but I’m super excited to return to Colorado for my third season with HTOEC. I studied communication with a theatre emphasis at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. I’m looking forward to new adventures and new opportunities to learn and grow this season.
Hey, I’m Maria. I’ve been coming to High Trails on and off since 2000 & they still can’t shake me. Earned my degrees in natural resource and forestry management in 2011 & have worked in interpretation ever since. I’m excited to meet all our spring visitors & look forward to another spring in the mountains.
Dear students, teachers, parents, grandparents, guardians, cats, dogs, and everyone reading this. My name is Jae and I am thrilled to be at High Trails. I come to you from Los Angeles and I am studying Psychology and English at Dartmouth College. I first ventured into the outdoors when I was 14, strapped with a pack and forced onto a week long trip in Yosemite National Park as a part of my high school's wacky graduation requirements. I loved it. Now I lead for the Dartmouth Outing Club and where I go hike, backpack, snowshoe, maple sugar, and cross-country ski in the great Northern woods. I am quite excited to share this wonderful space of wilderness with you and introduce you to the joys of being outdoors.
Hi! My name is Rachel. I’m coming from Los Angeles, California, though I’m sort of from all over. I graduated from San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in New Genres and love finding ways to incorporate science and nature into my art practice. On any given day you can find me drawing, climbing trees, or singing weird songs to myself. I love camping and backpacking—last year I hiked into the eastern Oregon backcountry to see the total solar eclipse. It was incredible! I feel very passionate about outdoor education and I’m very excited to spend my first season at High Trails this fall. See you out there!
Greetings, friends! My name is Leah. I grew up in New Jersey but quickly escaped to Colorado to attend Colorado College. While I was there I studied Economics but spent my weekends either hiking or skiing in the mountains. I have worked in Outdoor Education since I graduated which has led me to places near and far. On the weekends you can find me hiking, climbing, or eating Cheez-Its. I’m stoked to be able to work in a field I love in a place I love!
Hey, I’m Juliann and I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa. I decided my home state wasn’t cold enough so I headed north and attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota to study Biology and Environmental Science. Since graduating, I have had the pleasure of working as a counselor at Farm Camp in Plantation, CA, for the past two summers. At camp, I’ve been able to indulge in my favorite pastimes of hiking, barn dances, campfire cooking, exploring nature, and being a part of a close-knit, joyful community. I’m super excited to spend my first season at High Trails and looking forward to meeting all of the students.
Hey there! My name is Madelyn. I grew up on Vashon Island in Washington state, and was quickly drawn to the Rockies after graduating high school. I attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado where I received my degree in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability. During my time in Colorado I solidified my love for the outdoors through my many adventures with friends in wild places! I love to work and play in the outdoors which has led me to seasonal positions such as ski instructing in the winter, and leading backpacking expeditions in the summer. I hope to continue working in environments (like High Trails!) that combine two of my favorite things: adventure and working with kids! I am incredibly excited to spend the springtime teaching at High Trails and sharing valuable time with the kids, staff, and others that pass through!
Hi everyone, my name is Jake and I originally hail from the Empire State of New York. Though I grew up roaming amidst the ancient glacial boulders of the deciduous northeast, I spent the last five years in Asheville, NC earning a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies and hosting full moon poetry readings. I am excited for my first season at High Trails and to continue my adventure as an outdoor educator. I look forward to spending time learning from the kids and the land during my time at High Trails!
Hi friends! My name is Ari. I’m from a small town near Berkeley, California. I grew up surrounded by rolling hills and endless trails and soon realized that this was where I loved to be. I spent my summers in Yosemite at Camp Tawonga and the school year at the University of Puget Sound studying Sociology & Anthropology. Since graduating, I have spent most of my time in the outdoor education world, perfecting my backcountry pizza, cinnamon buns, and curry recipes. This is my first season at High Trails and I cannot be more excited! See you soon!
